Surgery Checklist
Go over this a few days before your surgery so you know you’re ready to go.
- Still healthy? Call your surgeon’s office if your health condition has changed (e.g., you have a cough, cold, fever, etc.).
- Eat a light dinner the evening before your surgery. Remember: DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING (not even water) within 8 hours of your surgery UNLESS your surgeon tells you differently.
- Avoid alcohol and tobacco for 24 hours prior to your surgery.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment.
- Have a responsible adult accompany you to the center who can drive you home following your surgery. The admissions nurse will be able to provide an approximate time when you will be able to go home.
- Leave jewelry (including wedding bands and body piercings) and other valuables at home.
- Don’t wear makeup, hairpins, nail polish, or body powder.
- Don’t wear contact lenses if possible.
- We allow one visitor per patient and two visitors per patient if the patient is 12 or younger.
Be sure to bring:
